Code Enforcement Update - Special Enforcement Programs
Recommendation
Harbor Department (“the Department”) code enforcement officers are responsible for enforcing the California Harbors and Navigation Code, Title 17, and various sections of the Newport Beach Municipal Code (“NBMC”) pertaining to zoning, noise, building codes, water quality, public nuisances and business regulations. Code enforcement officers rely heavily on collaboration and education to encourage voluntary compliance with these laws.
This report will update the Harbor Commission on special enforcement programs that further the Department mission of keeping Newport Harbor clean, safe, and well-enjoyed.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Determine this action is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Sections 15060(c)(2) and 15060(c)(3) of the CEQA Guidelines because this action will not result in a physical change to the environment, directly or indirectly; and
2. Receive and file.
