Title

Reforestation Request - Lido Park

Recommendation

Staff recommends the Parks, Beaches, and Recreation (PB&R) Commission consider the reforestation request for three standard City trees, consisting of two Canary Island date palms and one queen palm located at Lido Park.

The applicant is the 601 Lido Newport Beach Homeowners Association Board President Brian Cescolini who requested removal of the trees due to concerns that the trees completely block the view of Newport Bay from the lower units of the 10-story building.

The applicant has met the procedural requirements for reforestation established in City Council Policy G-1 - Retention, Removal, and Maintenance of City Trees (City Council Policy G-1). If approved by the PB&R Commission, the trees will be replaced at the applicants’ cost on a one-for-one basis with three 48-inch box Kentia palms (Howea forsteriana).
