Balboa Branch Library / Fire Station 1 Replacement Concepts, Recreation Components, and Special Tree Removals
Recommendation
Staff recommends the Parks, Beaches and Recreation (PB&R) Commission:
a) Approve the removal request of the Special City Blue Gum Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus) (Tree ID 3517580) and Canary Island Date Palm (Phoenix canariensis) (Tree ID 3517574) located at the Balboa Branch Library (100 E. Balboa Boulevard) under City Council Policy G-1 (Retention, Removal and Maintenance of City Trees).
b) Review proposed replacement Branch Library and Fire Station Site Concept Plans, Building Elevations and accompanying recreational components and layout; and recommend approval of preferred Concept Plan Option and Building Elevation Option, with any additional comments to the City Council.
